Take a Soldier Fishing


The NY BASS Nation will host the eleventh annual “Take A Soldier Fishing” event on April 27, 2019 at Oneida Shores Park in Brewerton NY.

Volunteer boaters host either 1 or 2 Soldiers from the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) stationed at Fort Drum NY for a half day of fishing followed by a BBQ luncheon. Prizes are awarded for the biggest fish in several categories; drum, carp, catfish, crappie, perch/rock bass, bowfin.

Event Schedule:

6 AM – NY BASS Event Staff Arrive
6:30 AM- Boaters and Soldiers arrive for register and receive free coffee & donuts
8:00 AM – Safety Briefing & Boater/Soldier pairings
8:30 AM – Launch Boats
1 PM – Return for official weigh-in (live fish only) and BBQ Lunch served
3:30 PM- Fish Catch Prizes awarded
4 PM – Event ends
